Abstracts

A printed volume of abstracts of oral and poster presentations will be provided to all Symposium participants at registration.

The abstracts will also be produced in an electronic document that will be made available on the Internet (www.amap.no) shortly before the Symposium.

Authors of papers selected for oral and poster presentation are requested to provide an extended abstract (maximum 3 pages A4 including figures), by the deadline of 15 September, 2004. These should be prepared and submitted according to the instructions below.

Submission of extended abstracts for the ACIA International Scientific Symposium on Climate Change in the Arctic, Reykjavik, Iceland, 9-12 November 2004.

Language, length and formatting:

• Extended abstracts should not exceed 3 pages A4 (including tables and figures).

• The abstract should be in English.

• Abstracts will be reformatted to a common style for the Proceedings. For this reason, it would be highly appreciated if you supply your abstract(s) in electronic format applying only basic text formatting features.

• Conversion of special characters (foreign characters, mathematical symbols, etc.) can cause problems. If possible, please use the following font sets: Times New Roman, Arial, Symbol, and use readable font sizes.

Content and organisation:

Extended abstracts should include the following and in the same order:

• Title of the abstract.

• Name of author(s) - First name, middle initial(s) and surname, omit degrees and titles.

• Main Author(s) affiliation - Author(s) address(es), Organisation/Institute, Postal Code, Town, Country.

• Abstract section texts - Introduction, Methods, Conclusions, Tables, Figures, etc., as relevant. References should be included as follows (Sumname, 1905; Hisname and Hername, 1929; Anuthername et al., 1995) (for example: Wilson, 1905; Wilson and Wilson, 1929; Wilson et al., 1995)

• Acknowledgement (if relevant).

• References (if references are included, supply full citations).

Graphics:

Any figures should be provided as electronic files (.eps, .jpg, .tiff, .gif, etc.) and also preferably as hard-copy originals. Please note: the printed report will be in black and white only, so please ensure that your graphics do not rely on colour. The online version of the abstracts can include colour materials so if you wish to also supply colour version(s) of graphics in addition to black and white versions please do so.

Submission:

Your abstract(s) should be submitted by 15 September, 2004.
