Average Barents Sea ice extent for 1980-1999

Climate scientists deal with uncertainty by presenting a range of possible futures. The greater the range of possibilities, the more uncertain the result. As an example the Barents Sea ice extent 1980-1999 over the year shows great variation from year to year, and the range of uncertainity (which varies over the year) is presented in this figure, together with current model estimates, from multiple climate model outputs.
