Nominal Year Dataset ID Type Description
2015 2015 Globally gridded (0.25 by 0.25 degrees) in both kg per grid cell and g per km2; component data for three mercury species classes (Hg0, Hg(II) and HgP) and for three emission height classes (0-50, 50-150 and >150m) Mercury emissions to air from anthropogenic sources in 2015. Emissions from all sectors and subsets for four emission sector groups: energy production (POWERGEN), industrial sectors (INDS), waste from intentional use (INTWASTE) and artisanal and small-scale gold mining (ASGM); Includes documentaiton

Documentation for dataset: 2010v1

Dataset ID 2010v1
  Nominal Year Grid Released Status
  2010 0.5 x 0.5 (Z05) 14/02/2013 Current
Description

Global mercury emissions to the atmosphere in 2010 from anthropogenic sources (all sectors in reported inventory apart from 'contaminated sites')

AMAP/UNEP 2010 global inventory prepared for the UNEP 2013 Global Mercury Assessment

Includes additional sectors and sub-sector categorization of emissions relative to 2005 inventory.

Data set includes emissions in kg/grid cell, with an additional column containing grid cell area (in km2) that can be used to re-calculate estimates to e.g. kg/km2

File globalHgEmission2010ALL_14feb2013_FS_SW.txt

(4,533,448 bytes) contains the emission model output for mercury emissions in different species/height classes; units = kg/cell

Mercury speciation: Hg0: elemental Hg; Hg2: Hg2+ species; HgP: particulate associated Hg. Height classes: _1 = 0 - 50m; _2 = 50 - 150m; _3 = >150m

File cellSurfaceArea05_14feb2013_FS.txt

(7,450,603 bytes) contains the surface area of the cell (km^2) based on an approximation (using the Haversin method). This can be used to normalize estimates to emissions per unit area.
